Provision for the Seekers: A Brief Study of Selected Ahadith (1)
Anas bin Malik narrated that: the Prophet (SAW) said: “The supplication is the essence of worship.” [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3371]
Supplication is the weapon of a believer.
The core of worship is to ask Allah [for Jannah, a favorable end, blessings and ease in the worldly life], and to express our dependence on Him.
Not calling upon Allah is arrogance. We are so insignificant and minute, we cannot achieve anything on our own. It is only by Allah’s decree that we have whatever we have, so ask Him alone, even for the smallest things.
Every situation is a source of khayr for the believer, because you are either in a state of shukr or sabr.
It is completely okay to be greedy in asking from Allah. When you ask Him, ask for khayr in it.
He responds with a yes, giving you what you ask, a no, or a delay in order to save you from some harm. When Allah chooses to not answer one’s du’a, He responds with granting the du’a in the akhirah in means of rewards. The reward of this unfulfilled du’a will be so much that you’d wish your most dearest du’a hadn’t been answered.
We don’t have the hikmah that Allah has, for instance, in the story in surah kahf, Musa was confused by why Khizr killed the young boy, but there was hikmah in it by Allah’s will, because Allah knew that boy would be a source of distress for his parents if he grew up
