Quranic Reminders: Surah Az-Zukhruf

  ﷽

  • We have made it an Arabic Qur’ān, so that you may understand. And it is, in the Mother of the Book (the Preserved Tablet) with us, surely sublime, full of wisdom. (3-4)

    • The Quran is a Criterion, it sheds light on how we should lead our life. The right and wrong are made clear to us in it, yet despite having gained its knowledge, we don’t take heed and practice the manifestation of submission. It is upon us to use our intelligence to comprehend the truth, to reflect on it. We can’t hold others responsible for our disbelief.

No messenger came to them, but they used to mock at him. (7)

    • Anyone who strives to follow the deen sincerely will have to face mockery of their practice, as occurred with the prophets. The path of the sunnah was never meant to be easy, it requires one to keep their gaze focused on the akhirah. It is the disbelievers who attach their hearts to things of this world.

When one of them is given the good news of (the birth of) that which he has attributed to RaHmān (i.e. the daughters), his face turns black, and he becomes choked with sorrow. (17)

    • Unlike the disbelievers, the birth of a daughter is a glad tidings. The prophets had daughters, and the Messenger SAW had four. A daughter brings blessings to every person in their life, and can be a means of Jannah for her parents if she has been raised in piety.

Is it they who allocate the mercy of your Lord? We have allocated among them their livelihood in the worldly life, and have raised some of them over others in ranks, so that some of them may put some others to work. And the mercy of your Lord is much better than what they accumulate. (32)

    • Allah divides provision and ranks amongst people by His own wisdom, so there’s no use feeling proud of what we have and vice versa. Similarly, we mustn’t be jealous of others, because a lot of times the wealth of this world becomes a hindrance in us being righteous; it distracts us, it makes us arrogant, unable to look beyond our comfort zone

    • We learn from the prophets that we’re allowed to ask for rizq, yet we must pair it with du’a for the khayr in that rizq; so it doesn’t lead us to sin

    • Those who wish to live righteous lives in this world may experience discomfort and fear in this world, but it wouldn't be like that in the Hereafter, because in Jannah they will be joyous and with those who they love

    • Our life in this world is not meant for us to chase our desires, rather it is a place of test. Even the best moments in this life have an end, but in Jannah pleasure will be neverending.

Whoever makes himself blind against the advice of Rahmān, We assign for him a devil who accompanies him all the time. (36)

    • When a person feels inclined to sin, it is a sign that they have lowered their guard, and hence it is important that we firmly hold onto the Quran and Sunnah, because that’s the only way we can remain on the right path.

    • The remembrance of Allah protects us from the incitements of shaytan; without it a shaytan constantly attaches to us to whisper to us, inclining us to sin
